Branch Chair Jacky Rappoport
Welcome to the website of the London & Home Counties (L&HC) Branch of the British Psychological Society.
With over 11,500 members, we are the largest Branch of the BPS with a range of research and general talks, conferences, and postgraduate events running since 2006.
The Branch exists to promote and advance psychology as a whole and continues to enable both professionals and academic psychologists to meet regularly to exchange ideas, present papers, run workshops, participate in conferences, develop potential research collaborations, engage students in the field, and most importantly, to make contact and engage with other colleagues in the region. The Branch also continues to facilitate talks, which can help promote the field of psychology to potential students while providing support to students and professionals currently facing new employment and career advancement.
Our overall aim is to bring London based professionals and trainees together from all disciplines of psychology to promote and advance the field as a whole.
Who the Branch Encompasses
Formed in 2006, the London & Home Counties Branch has been able to provide a free service to members of the BPS who live and work within the London area. We serve members from Central London to Canterbury and in the surrounding areas. Members outside of these areas are welcome to join the London & Home Counties Branch if they feel the location is more convenient for them. Please contact the BPS in Leicester for more information.
Over the last year, the London & Home Counties Branch has held numerous successful talks, including the ever-successful career and publication talks. We have also held a very successful Psychology for All Conference in Central London. In addition to these events, we have had a stronger focus on Forensics and the Media and Psychology. Both events were a big hit; which we hope to expand on in the future.
Over the next year, we plan to continue to grow our postgraduate events calendar with additional focus being put towards volunteer recruitment and website management. In addition to our work on the 2012 BPS Conference, we are also looking forward to expanding our research area on the website and the research talks. We are always expanding our events and would be happy to hear your views and to have you participate.
